Your time

§ 01The idea

The idea

The Greeks had two words for time. Chronos, the time that passes, and kairos, the moment that matters. We spend eleven months building one watch so it can keep the first, and mark the second.

Every O-1 is assembled, regulated and cased by a single watchmaker, who engraves their initials on the movement before it leaves the bench.

§ 02Anatomy

Seven layers between you and the second.

  1. 01

    Sapphire crystal

Domed and anti-reflective on both sides. Nine on the Mohs scale.

  2. 02

    Bezel

Polished, with a 0.3 mm step that catches a single line of light.

  3. 03

    Hands

Dauphine, faceted by hand, filled with luminescent paint.

  4. 04

    Dial

Brass, fourteen coats of lacquer, twelve applied indices.

  5. 05

    Movement

Calibre O-1. 212 components, 31 jewels, regulated in five positions.

  6. 06

    Case

40 mm across, 11.2 mm thick. Satin flanks, polished bevels.

  7. 07

    Caseback

Screwed down around a sapphire window. Water resistant to 100 m.

Exploded view of the Calibre O-1: crystal, bezel, hands, dial, movement, case and caseback separated along one axis.

§ 03The movement

Inside, a small universe keeps time.

i / iii

The escapement

Twenty-eight thousand eight hundred times an hour, the pallet fork lets one tooth of the escape wheel go. You hear it as a tick. We hear a heartbeat.

28,800beats per hour

ii / iii

The mainspring

A coiled blade inside the barrel stores the energy of your wrist. Fully wound, it runs for three days, long enough to leave on the nightstand for a weekend.

72hours of reserve

iii / iii

The rotor

A half-moon of solid gold swings with every gesture and winds the spring in both directions. Movement, turned into time.

360°bidirectional winding

Close view of the Calibre O-1 movement: the gold rotor, blued screws, ruby jewels and the balance wheel.
